A group focused on Tamil Jazz while also allowing space for collaboration and occasional exploration of other styles like Spanish or Portuguese music. 

“The concept of 'Tamil Jazz' emerged from my fascination with an array of new melodic possibilities of native languages. In a recent workshop I led, I demonstrated how translating jazz standards from English to Tamil can reveal new dimensions of sound and emotion. The Tamil language’s phonetic and rhythmic qualities blend beautifully with Jazz’s harmonic structures, creating a fresh approach to both genres.

Inspired by this, I started the 'Tamil Jazz Collective' , translating popular jazz standards into Tamil and incorporating Western and/ or Indian instruments. This fusion respects both traditions while creating something new. This project bridges cultural and musical gaps and offers a unique listening experience.”- Harini Iyer
